Lots of food for breakfast, which was local to satisfy everyone. The staff members were excellent and attentive. Location: the hotel was just next door to the venue/restaurant, an impressive park with a green for practice and the Forest.

Super meal in the elegant restaurant, at short notice (arrived 8.50 pm, last orders 9pm). Gourmet food and wine at reasonable price. Also, hotel is set in open parkland at end of long tree lined drive so very private, quiet and totally secure for vehicles. Was clearly a hunting lodge at some time, so homely and spacious rather than grand and intimidating. Staff attentive without intruding, so homely feel to it all. Excellent stop over for the drive from south France to the tunnel (which took us 4 hours from the hotel with a 30 minute coffee stop).
Had the cheapest room (only one left when we booked the evening before), a twin at the top. Room perfectly adequate, but bathroom fittings difficult to use eg weird wash basin with no apparent way of plugging the hole to fill with water - shaved etc with tap running. Also, bathroom tiled throughout in dark colours so dark, struggled to see to shave! Otherwise the 'cheap' room was at least adequate and at best very good value.

A very nice Renaissance "hunting pavillon" right in the middle of a deep forest. A calm and cosy place to rest.
Rooms are rather noisy as the structure is old and poorly insulated. This is not really acceptable in such a pricely hotel.

The standard room we booked was extremely nice - with bed and breakfast for £100 a couple very good value. Room was a good size with a large comfortable double bed, and all very clean. The bathroom was also very clean a good size, with marble effect finish. The breakfast provided a good choice with bread etc... refreshed during service to ensure it was fresh. The staff were very helpful and friendly although they had limited command of English which for us added to the charm. The swimming pool although not big was clean and ample for it's purpose. A refreshing treat. I can't fault the hotel location or the welcome or cleanliness. I would not hesitate to recommend it.
The evening meal we had was a little pricy (started at 25 euro's for a two course meal up to about 50 euro's per person, 16 euro's for a cheap bottle on wine ranging to very expensive). That said we couldn't fault the food it's self and service (which was Cordon Bleu style incl half pigeon, sole etc...). To eat elsewhere would mean a short drive.

We were there for the 2011 World Percheron Congress (Mondial du Percheron) held at the Haras du Pin. Beautiful hotel, perfect location.Great breakfasts. Love someone else's comment about design over practicality with respect to the bathroom sinks...true but wasn't an issue just amusing.
